these shoes! so awesome! wish i’d gotten a second pair, but maybe i’ll be able to find some on the marketplace at some point…
also, really loving risse and her full set. i was dressing her in it after she arrived and was wondering why she seemed different than my other minifee - then i realized that she was completely sanded! there were indication of where some of the seams had been, but she was sanded smooth! makes me wonder if fairyland is stepping up the game on the fullsets.
ahahaha! i was out antiquing and this one store had a cabinet full of old dolls and stuff. of course, most of it was priced wrong - too high for what it was/quality, or too low because the person didn’t know what they had. then there was this. this clock is not an antique and doesn’t even cost close to that originally. i got one from archie mcphee for something like $1. oh how antique store pricing sometimes is the most amusing of things!
interesting finds for dolls: boot shot glasses! found this at pier1 a few weeks back and it’s the perfect size for bigger dolls. the doll here is my eid kamau with superhero body. it’s a little heavy and, combined with his old style body, a little hard to be held up. still a nice prop piece!
swag post part one! this is almost all of the stuff i got from disneyland, ax, and venice. part two will eventually come and will be all the art that’s in the portfolio (which i still have to pick up from my friend who’s bag the portfolios were packed in.) the whole trip was great fun and full of me getting a bunch of random things for me or as gifts. most of my money was spent at the con on art and other stuff, but i did get some art and things at disney, plus an art piece from a vendor on the venice beach boardwalk. spent a lot, but it was worth it!
part of the trip to california was going to line-con 2014 - er, anime expo 2014 that is…after spending 5+ hours in line to pick up our badges wednesday afternoon/evening/night and not making it out until after 10pm with badges in hand, i skipped out on the first day in favor of venice beach. the con was huge, but no less manageable than sakura or eccc. wasn’t too impressed with the crowd management - especially in regards to people taking photos - and was was very not happy about the whole wednesday fiasco.
one of the up sides was getting to see danny choo’s smart doll in person! i really like the internal skeleton and think i may try and get a kizuna when she comes out. i’ve been wanting a dollfie dream style doll for a while and haven’t really found a face that i liked. i’m glad i got the chance to get up close with these!
